Concert Band Calendar
In the calendar section of this web site you will find the complete band schedule. The specific concert band dates and events can be viewed by themselves through your google calendar. This calendar has most of the events you are responsible for attending but there are other events that may occur within the instrumental music department that you are still responsible for attending. Work is not an excuse for missing an event. This calendar is out in plenty of time for you to work around your work schedule. There will be no excused absence from sectional night, guest conductor night, contest concert or contest. Absences from these events will negatively impact your grade.
Concert Band Expectations
The concert band is the second concert band in the instrumental music department. One of the main purposes of this organization is to better prepare students to address more difficult literature by teaching aspects of musicality and teaching what is necessary to play and understand music at a deeper level. In order to provide the best teaching/learning atmosphere concert band members are expected to come to rehearsal every day ready to rehearse with all of their equipment (including pencils). They are also expected to be in their seats, ready to rehearse no more than 2 minutes after the second bell rings. All members are expected to learn their parts and do their best to be teachable, cooperative, and willing to pull the musicality out of every note on every piece of music we perform. Concert band members must conduct themselves in a mature manner during class which includes keeping talking and disruptive behaviors to a minimum. Students that are habitually disruptive to the learning process may be placed on band probation (see handbook for details) or, if not remedied, removed from the organization. I Look forward to an enjoyable, and musical experience as we all learn together in the upcoming season.
